about

"The two pieces here are... tensely atmospheric and aggressive... The A side is like listening to a windstorm destroy an Arctic observatory from inside an igloo. The flip is like listening to the same process form the interior of a submarine that is bobbing just below the surface." Byron Coley, Wire Magazine #398, April 2017

Summersteps is proud to present a brand new collaboration between PBK and The Minus World.

PBK has been a music experimentalist since 1986 working in the area of ambient, electroacoustic and noise music. PBK has collaborated with a wide range of international experimental musicians including Artemiy Artemiev, Asmus Tietchens, Aube, Jarboe, Jeph Jerman, Jim O' Rourke, Nocturnal Emissions, Vidna Obmana, Wolf Eyes and many more.

Eric Schlittler is the co-founder of Summersteps Records along with being a songwriter and guitarist for indie rock group, Kid Icarus. Schlittler has produced two tribute albums in homage to avant-garde Texas bluesman, Jandek, in addition to facilitating key cassette releases from such outsider artists as Lewis, Ed Askew, and Brother JT. The Minus World is the moniker for Schlittler's experimental solo output.

Connected through a mutual admiration of psychedelic folkie, Ed Askew (whose artwork provides the cover), Schlittler and PBK began bouncing ideas back and forth. The compositions began with Schlittler’s freeform electronic improvisations via way of various analog synths. These sources were then augmented and twisted by PBK into the harrowing sound sculptures that stand before you today.
